Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and his Serbian counterpart, Aleksandar Vucic, met on Sunday in Brussels for EU-facilitated talks by High representative Federica Mogherini, aimed at normalizing bilateral relations.
Following the meeting Kosovo President Thaci said that meeting with Serbian President Vucic was difficult considering that they are discussing century-old problems mounted between Serbs and Albanians. “I know that with a potential agreement both sides can win a lot, but I am afraid that if no agreement is reached we will lose, because we will hurt the European future, will delay the European future and will remain isolated,” Thaci said.
“We cannot remain victims of the bitter past but we should look towards the future for our country and citizens,” said Thaci. “This is a right momentum and if we miss this chance it will cost dearly to both parties. Today we have discussed on concrete issues, we have discussed modalities on how to go towards final phase of the dialogue on finding a solution between our people. We live close to each other and we know each other and we want to build normal relations,” Thaci said.
