Kosovo President Hashim Thaci during a joint press conference with the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Wess Mitchell, who is visiting Pristina today, said the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia will be concluded in compliance with the Constitution and applicable laws of Kosovo and there will be no exchange of territory between the two countries.
President Thaci thanked the Administration of the U.S. President Donald Trump on their focus on Kosovo and Balkans in general. Talking on his meeting with US diplomat Wess Mitchell, Thaci said that they have discussed on blockade of the Agreement on border demarcation with Montenegro and dialogue with Serbia. “Nobody has the right to delay demarcation,” said Thaci. “Political parties are discussing with Srspka List and ratification of demarcation will happen in coming days. This is a strategic and state interest. We have discussed also on the further steps needed for the KSF to be transformed into Army of Kosovo, as a precondition to start partnership for peace and membership in NATO,” Thaci said.
Talking on Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, President Thaci said that he informed the U.S. diplomat on continuation of the dialogue with Serbia, which as he said, would lead towards reconciliation based on the European spirit and by respecting territorial integrity. “Kosovo does not accept partition, exchange of territory or autonomy,” Thaci said. He also said that one of the topics discussed with the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs was economic development stating that it is very important for Kosovo that the U.S. is bringing new investors.
