Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj says the resignation of the Serb mayors in four municipalities of northern Kosovo is unconstitutional.
Serb mayors have resigned because of Government’s decision to increase customs tariffs on Serbian goods. But Haradinaj said on Tuesday that the decision is pending noting that in their resignation letter is written “Kosovo and Metohija” a reference which is unconstitutional. This document according to Haradinaj is null and void.
Mayors of Mitrovica North, Leposavic, Zubin Potok and Zvecan have resigned on 27 November dissatisfied with Government’s decision on introducing 100 percent tariffs on all goods imported from Serbia. Also municipal assemblies of the four Serb-majority municipalities in northern Kosovo have decided to end all communication with Kosovo state institutions.
