Kosovo Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, met in Vienna the Secretary-General of the Austrian Foreign Ministry, Michael Linhart.
“Minister Hoxha asked for the support of Austria in the integration process, after Austria takes over the EU Presidency in July and can do more for Kosovo, especially for the visa liberalization process,” according to a press release issued by Hoxha’s press service. Minister Hoxha said that Austria was a strong supporter of Kosovo and expects further support in the integration process. “We hope Austria will continue supporting the integration process of Kosovo and Western Balkans towards the European Union, now when Kosovo is treated equally with all other Balkan countries. Kosovo expects this treatment to be even more concrete with the free visa-travel that our citizens should enjoy soon,” said Hoxha, noting that visa liberalization is a short-term priority while the integration process is the final goal. Lenhart, meanwhile, emphasized that Kosovo as part of the Western Balkans is within the integration process and enlargement plans of the European Union, by urging Kosovo to further advance in the reform process under the European Reform Agenda, economic reforms and strengthening the rule of law.
