Parliament Speaker, Kadri Veseli, has started his official visit to Strasbourg when he is lobbying for Kosovo to get visa liberalisation.
The Speaker Veseli was received on Tuesday by the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, to discuss the conclusion of the visa liberalisation for Kosovo, according to a press release issued by the Speaker’s Office. The EP President Tajani said that they are ready to proceed with the decision of EP members, as soon as the European Commission, approves a positive recommendation for Kosovo on visas. “I am happy to confirm that we will have full support of the European Parliament on visa liberalisation for our citizens. This is a good news. We are expecting a positive report by the end of this month, in order to get the necessary support of MEPs for the visa-free regime,” Veseli said noting that they will continue raising awareness of all stakeholders in order for Kosovo citizens to move without visas within 2018.
The Speaker said that he informed the President of the European Parliament on latest political developments in Kosovo, necessary reforms of the Kosovo institution towards the EU integration process.
Veseli said that the Parliament of Kosovo has prioritised and adopted all the draft-laws approximating Kosovo legal frame with the EU legislation and noted that Kosovo has special commission dealing on compatibility of all laws with the EU acquis.
