The Court of Appeals has extended detention on remand against a Kosovo Serb man, Dejan Slavic, who is suspected of committing war crimes against Albanian civilians during the war in Kosovo in 1998-99.
The Court of Appeals has rejected the complaint of the defence counsel, appealing the decision of the Pristina Basic Court, dated 07 May 2018. According to the indictment Slavic is suspected of war crimes against civilian population. The Court of Appeals in its ruling today found that the first instance court gave sufficient reasons, to uphold the detention on remand, in compliance with the Criminal Procedure Code of Kosovo. Dejan Slavic (44), is suspected of committing war crimes against Albanian civilian population, was arrested on 5 May 2018 at the border crossings of Jarinje in northern Kosovo. Slavic who until 2003 was living in Obliq, Kosovo, was living in Lazarevac, Serbia. He was arrested while entering Kosovo at the border crossings of Jarinje.
