Kosovo Ambassador to Washington, Vlora Citaku, in her speech at the UN Security Council, has reminded to Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic massacres of Serbian forces during the war in Kosovo and urged the UN members to recvognise the reality of Kosovo.
“The UN members should know the truth, this year Kosovo has not been involved in the report of the General Secretary on sexual violence victims, whereas international organisations have gathered 20 thousand stories of the violence and systematic torture committed by Serbian forces during the war in Kosovo,” Citaku said. She also complained on the actions of Serbian forces who recently arrested Kosovo Serbs who are members of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF). “Some local Serbs have been arrested in Serbia just because they joined the KSF. Allow me to make it clear that Serbia has no veto over the establishment of Kosovo Army. This can be done only by institutions of Kosovo. Kosovo Serbs want a better life. Despite their aspirations they are under continuous pressure of Belgrade,” said Citaku. She also mentioned banning of Kosovo Karate team to attend European Championship in Serbia. “Just recently Serbia has banned a Kosovo karate team, preventing them to be part of the European Championship. Our children have been stopped. You know how much effort Kosovo has made to become part of sport federations,” said Vlora Citaku. She made these comments during the regular meeting of the UNSC on quarterly report on Kosovo presented by the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guteres.
