Ekaterina Trendafilova, President of Specialist Chambers, will visit Kosovo for the first time next week, Gazeta Express has learned.
Her visit is related to that Specialist Chambers’ investigation into alleged crimes committed during the 1998-1999 conflict. Before joining Specialist Chambers, Trendafilova was a judge at a Criminal Court. At the time she was assigned to the Chambers, Trendafilova had said that the Hague-based court, which will try former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), would not be ethnically biased because it would only try the suspected criminals, not the guerrilla organization. It is still unknown when the first indictments by this Court will be filed, although it has been reported that they would be filed in the end of autumn this year. In January 2017 Trendafilova had officially launched her work on the consolidation of the team, which will deal with the investigation into the alleged KLA crimes.
