Leader of the Alliance New Kosovo (AKR), Behgjet Pacolli, reiterated his proposal for a broad-based coalition, which according to him, would solve the political crisis in Kosovo
Pacolli whose party is in coalition with the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and won four seats in the new legislation, said that such a broad-based coalition could be led also by Ramush Haradinaj, who is candidate of the PDK-AAK-Nisma (PAN) coalition for prime minister. THe PAN won the election but still they lack necessary support in Assembly to create institutions.
Pacolli during an interview with the daily Epoka e Re said that due to the lack of parliamentary majority, all political leaders and parties should act beyond personal interests and offer an acceptable solution. During the interview Pacolli also talked about the pressure that the media is putting on the AKR MP, Labinot Tahiri noting that none of the AKR elected MPs will vote Haradinaj for prime minister. “Labinot Tahiri as the deputy chairman of AKR, respects all the decisions taken by the AKR chairmanship,” Pacolli said denying media reports that Tahiri will vote Haradinaj for prime minister.
The PAN coalition which won 39 seats in the 120 seated assembly of Kosovo has the right to propose the name of the speaker and its candidate for prime minister. The PAN are counting on 20 votes of MPs representing minorities, and agreements with individual MPs from other parties in order to get minimum 61 votes to create new institutions. Media have speculated that the AKR MP, Labinot Tahiri will support Haradinaj for prime minister.
