Today, LGBTI organizations in Kosovo will hold the first ever Pride Parade called “In the name of Love”. The LGBTI community and their supporters will gather at the Skanderbeg Sqaure in Pristina and march towards the Zahir Pajaziti Square.
The Pride Parade which is organised as part of the Pride Week will be attended by various personalities and representatives of civil society.
However, despite expectations, the Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj will not take part in the parade. Government’s spokesperson, Halil Matoshi, confirmed to media on Tuesday that Haradinaj will not attend the parade.
“Due to work commitments he will not be able to attend the LGBTI parade,” Matoshi revealed in a statement.
Although this will be Kosovo's first Pride Parade, LGBTI rights activists have organised other marches over last three years. Kosovo's Centre for Equality and Liberty, CEL, the Centre for Social Group Development, CSGD and some other organizations who will organise the Pride Parade in Kosovo called on everyone who supports their cause to join the march.
