Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj after meeting foreign ambassadors accredited in Pristina said that time has come for transformation of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) into Armed Force of Kosovo. He said that establishment of the Kosovo Army is well accepted by Kosovo Serbs, and urged Srpska List to vote constitutional amendments enabling transformation of the KSF into army.
Haradinaj told media after a meeting with ambassadors that he briefed them on the advancing of the KSF and readiness of this civil roce to be transformed into army. Haradinaj also said that transformation of the KSF should be done with the integration of minorities, including Serbian minority in the KSF. Haradinaj said that transformation of the KSF will be done through constitutional amendments and he believes Srpska List will support these amendments. “The decision on making constitutional amendments is political, therefore the vote of Srpska List related to this issue remains unclear,” Haradinaj said.
“Kosovo has fulfilled all the conditions for transformation of the KSF into army. This issue should move forward,” he said. Kosovo Prime Minister said that Kosovo Army will not replace NATO’s peacekeeping mission – KFOR in Kosovo, but will help security in the region. Haradinaj said that transformation of the KSF will happen, with or without constitutional amendments. It remains unclear whether Srpska List will endorse constitutional amendments, but the Prime Minister said that Kosovo Serbs are integrated within the KSF.
