The EU Office in Kosovo in a written statement to Gazeta Express called on parliamentary parties to act responsibly and constitute the Assembly of Kosovo as soon as possible.
The Assembly of Kosovo remains blocked after political parties are disagreeing on continuation of the constitutive session of Assembly and election of the speaker. In a written statement to Gazeta Express the EU Office in Kosovo, says that the Assembly should be constituted as soon as possible. “The EU office in Kosovo calls for the Assembly to be constituted as soon as possible and parliamentary parties to act responsibly and fulfil obligations deriving from the Constitution and laws,” it is stated in the statement of the EU Office in Kosovo/EUSR.
Political parties held a consultative meeting on Wednesday in their efforts to end the political deadlock, but no solution has been found. Representatives of the PDK-AAK-Nisma (PAN) coalition as winners of election asked the constitutive session be held next week and hold another consultative meeting in meantime. They also confirmed that they will not attend Thursday’s session of Assembly called by the session leader, Adem Mikullovci with the justification that they were not consulted on the session. Other parties blame PAN that they are not proposing their candidate for speaker fearing lack of support in Assembly.
